Viola
Accusound products suitable for Viola. There are a significant number or variations available for the viola. Two main styles of microphone may be used either seperatly or as a combined system on the viola. There are also variations in each of the styles. Firstly the capsule microphone; this may one of the Performer range where a directional microphopne is mounted on the side of the instrument using a soft rubber mount and the capsule is pointed towards the bridge, f hole or strings, each giving a slightly different sound. There is also the traditional flexible neck microphone whcih is similar to the previous type but is mionted on the tail piece of the instrument. The microphone may be uni-directional or omni-directional and is usually pointed towards the f hole but agian may be pointed to the bridge or strings.
Another version of the capsule mic is the suspension mount. This capsule is suspened from the strings using a light weight foam triangle so the sapsule is under the strings next to the bridge. This gives a bright punchy sound.
The final type is the contact strip. For the viola this is a small strip which is held against the bodu of the instrument directly under the tailpiece and help in place by a piece of dence foam. This pick-up system gives the strongest sound and is least susceptible to feedback on a live stage.
Any two of the above, except the Performer microphone may be used together to produce a combined system. The signal form the two mics in a combined system can be feed to the mixer/amplifier either individually or as a combined signal by using our 2 channel mixer at the instrument.
Both the flexible neck system and the suspension system are available as omni-directional microphones or uni-directioanl microphones.
