This unit is the same as the AC-SC-6 but is supplied with a Jack socket connector. The Jack socket pre-amplifier may be fitted directly to your harp by drilling a hole through the body and fixing it in place with the nuts provided. As every harp is different, Accusound are not able to advise on the best position to drill this mounting hole. If in doubt, ask the maker of your harp or a local harp shop or repairer. A location is also required for the battery, a simple screw down clip is included.
If you prefer not to drill a hole in your harp, you can purchase a Jack mount, ACS-11-3 search our Accessories section, that fits in most harp sound holes. It is simply clamped in position, no drilling is required and it may be removed easily. The battery clip may be mounted on to this mount, threaded holes are provided. Using a standard Jack lead, connect the pickup to your amplification system or pedals.
When a Jack plug is inserted into the pre-amplifier, it automatically switches on the electronics. To prolong battery life remember to remove the Jack plug when the system is not in use.
The standard contact microphone for harp is a thin strip microphone which fixes to the soundboard of the harp.
The blue coloured protective PVC cover allows ample surface to achieve good adhesion to the sound board.
It is fixed using double sided self adhesive tape supplied in the kit.
The positioning of the strip can make a difference to the sound it reproduces so experimentation is important.
We suggest you start 1/3 of the way up the soundboard, to one side and away from any ribs.
The strip is normally fixed to the inside of the soundboard which is unvarnished so it may be easily removed if it is no longer required or to use on another instrument.
This system comes complete with a preamplifier in to which you plug the strip and from this via a Jack cable to your mixer amplifier or pedals. The preamplifier is powered by a 9v battery.
One of our Accusound wireless Instrument systems may be used with this system to remove the need for a connecting cable between the harp and the amplifier.
